The question “what is art?” has long been asked and explored by successive generations of artists. So, when artists ask “what is art?”, they are interested in new forms and practices that have not yet been explored; in other possibilities that they can draw upon to expand and enrich what we think of when we think about what art is. Six artists, Ou Ming, Wang Zhiyuan, Yin Changzhi, Yang Guangnan, Yao Hai and Miranda Fengyuan Zhang, were invited to participate in the exhibition, and about 40 pieces of sculptures, paintings and other different types of works were displayed.
OCAT Xi'an
OCAT Xi’an is proud to present Zhang Miao’s solo exhibition. This solo exhibition, the largest showing of Zhang Miao’s work in an art institution to date, brings together a rich selection of the artworks that have resulted from his imaginative play with sensory forms and expression. Zhang Miao's artistic practice oscillates and collides between the concepts of painting, sculpture and architecture, neither adhering to established theories, nor trying to get rid of his own inertia.
OCAT Shanghai is pleased to present Shao Wenhuan's solo exhibition, "The Eyes of Argus," opening on August 20, 2022.
OCAT Shanghai

“Shenzhen Sculpture Biennale” (since 1998) is renamed as “OCAT Biennale” at its ninth event in 2021.Themed “Boomerang”, this Biennale takes not only its name, but also its connotations, including movement principle, trajectory, and effect, referring symbolically to the current situation of the society featuring mutual influence and restraint, to the future that we can hardly hide away from, or a counterproductive result.
