Annika Larsson

1972, Stockholm, Sweden

Now work in

Berlin, Germany

Annika Larsson was born in Stockholm in 1972. She currently lives in Berlin.

Her work has been presented in solo shows at museums such as MACRO (Museo d'Arte Contemporaneu Roma), Rome; Le Magasin, Grenoble; Kunstalle, Nurnberg; Museum fur Gegenwartskunst, Basel; and in international festivals such as the 49th Biennale of Venice, the 6th Biennale of Shanghai, 2006, and the International Film Festival of Berlin in 2011.

Larsson's works primarily deal with a distinctive representation of exerted and endured control - the experience of power in daily life. Larsson isolated signs and uses them for the constrcution of a new filmic world that is aseptic, soporific and domesticated;  a world whose danger and chaos have been neutralized for the ssake of an asthetic display.

In 2015, Annika Larsson's work was exhibited in the exhibition Playback: Selected Works from the Pierre Huber Films & Videos Collection at OCAT Shanghai.
