Heidi Lau is a Brooklyn-based visual artist who grew up in colonial and post-handover Macau. Her practice excavates myth and minor history to investigate the materiality and non-linearity of the past. Taking inspiration after ritual objects, architecture, funereal monuments, post-apocalyptic narratives and zoomorphic forms, her painstakingly crafted and glazed ceramic sculptures are the ruins of lost futures and the ghost of impossible homecoming.

At OCAT Shenzhen, Heidi Lau will present her work in recent years, followed by a conversation with New York-based writer Kang Kang.
